Top  An improbable burst of summer...

As I perch here, on an old iron railway-bridge across the River Nene, blustered by the swirling breeze and trying to soak up the very last of this brief, but oh-so-enjoyable burst of summer, serenaded by myriad song-birds and the whispering of the trees, I’m acutely aware of just how long it is since last I wrote.

After bombarding you all winter with adverts for the truly sublime Chewing the Fat album launch at Union Chapel, then spending several weeks sheltering in the romance of various Thanetian car-parks, waiting for the odd opportunity to go outside and busk, I’m very pleased to share some news of impending Djukella music.

On Wednesday morning, we’ll collect the increasingly famous James Patrick Gavin, fresh from Florida and ITV’s Good Morning Britain; mind addled from video editing and jet-lag, and head straight to Dover and on to Duisburg for the first night of our latest German tour.

If you’ve any friends, fans or indeed foes in Germany, let them know we’re coming and send them our way. We have a smorgasbord of mongrel music and song on offer, and would love to see as many folks as we can on the mainland whilst our passports still permit it.

We’re playing a whole succession of shows, down the Rhein, across Saxony, all over Schleswig-Holstein, and back down the Ruhr, primarily in the finest house-concert venues available, but also taking in a Jazz Cellar, a hospital and a Capoeira studio, for those who like to listen to music prostrate or indeed up-side-down.

On our return, we’re making a mad dash up to Scotland for a couple more shows before the festival season begins, so anyone within striking distance of Strathdon, or Moniaive Folk Festival, come and join us. All the dates are listed on the gigs page at www.jezhellard.com

Speaking of James Patrick Gavin`s aforementioned Chewing the Fat at Union Chapel, videos which are being released over the next few weeks...

For those of you who were there at Union Chapel, you`ll know just what a special night it was. For the rest of you, we should soon have news about taking the show on the road later in the year, so keep your ears cocked.

If you`ve yet to get your hands on the album, it`s a stone-cold classic. Buy yours now at www.jamespatrickgavin.com

The very first track, released last week by Folk Radio UK, features the inimitable Adrian Lever, Hugh O`Neill and Tad Sargent sporting James` characteristic hot pink mankini...

Apologies for my brevity and the paucity of my prose, but time is short and I must pack the last shirts into Red the Wonder-horse, collect one new tyre from Ali, one beautifully serviced guitar from the one and only Rob Bowman (find him on facebook, or indeed in Irchester for all your guitar-based needs) and one Nypod from the depths of Wellingborough, then head south and lay in wait for the Gavinator, who`s arriving home from Florida as I type.

If you haven`t told anyone to buy any of our albums recently, or suggested to your favourite venue that they should book us...

...g`wan...you know you want to!

Looking forward to seeing many of you along the way. Much love to all.

Now to the road...
